Hi, I'm Jonas!
Currently, I am a post-doctoral researcher at the Institute of Logic and Computation of the TU Wien in Vienna (Austria) and at the Artificial Intelligence Research Unit of the University of Cape Town (South Africa).
I obtained my doctoral degree from the FernUniversität in Hagen (Germany), where I was research assistant in the Knowledge-Based Systems Group lead by Prof. Christoph Beierle.
My research interests are in the area of knowledge representation and reasoning (KRR), at the moment with a special focus on nonmonotonic reasoning with defeasible rules/conditionals.
To contact me via e-mail, you can use jonas@haldimann.de.
In April, the talks in the NMR Online Seminar will be given by Lars-Phillip Spiegel and Alexander Hahn. Check the website for more information!
I was one of the co-organizers of Cape-KR 2025. The event turned out to be a great success!
At the DIES ACADEMICUS 2024 of the FernUniversität I received the award for the best dissertation at the faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science.
The paper Scaling Up Reasoning From Conditional Belief Bases by Christoph Beierle, Jonas Philipp Haldimann, Arthur Sanin, Leon Schwarzer, Aron Spang, Lars-Phillip Spiegel, and Martin von Berg was awarded Best Young Researcher Runner-Up Paper at SUM 2024.
